Overview

LinkedIn Scammer Reporter is a browser extension that allows users to voluntarily report suspected scam profiles on LinkedIn and warns users when they visit a previously reported profile. We are committed to transparency about how data is handled.

Data We Collect

We only collect data that you explicitly submit through the report form:

• LinkedIn Profile URL — the public URL of the profile being reported.
• Reported Name — the name displayed on the reported profile.
• Description — your written account of the scam attempt.
• Message Excerpt (optional) — a copy of the scam message, if you choose to include one.
• Reporter Identifier (optional) — an email or username you may provide so we can follow up.

Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not automatically scrape, monitor, or record your LinkedIn activity.
• We do not read your private messages, connections, or any non-public LinkedIn data.
• We do not collect browsing history, cookies, or analytics data.
• We do not use tracking pixels, third-party analytics, or advertising SDKs.

How Data Is Used

Submitted reports are sent to our backend server over HTTPS and stored in a database. Verified reports are used to compile a list of reported profile URLs. This list is periodically fetched by the extension and cached locally (using chrome.storage.local) so the extension can display a warning banner when you visit a reported profile.

Data Storage and Retention

• Report data is stored on servers operated by the extension developer.
• Locally cached data (reported profile URLs) is refreshed every 60 minutes and stored only in your browser via the Chrome Storage API.
• Reports are retained for as long as they remain relevant. You may request deletion at any time (see below).

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. Report data is used solely for the purpose of warning other users about reported profiles.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any data you have submitted by contacting us at the email address below. We will respond to requests within 30 days.

Security

All communication between the extension and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS. We take reasonable measures to protect stored data from unauthorized access.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
